UPPCO: Fishing platform at Dam 3 closed after weekend damage

MARQUETTE – Upper Peninsula Power Company has temporarily closed the public fishing platform at Dam 3 Reservoir on the Escanaba River after the platform sustained damage over the weekend, according to an UPPCO press release. The closure is limited to the fishing platform and does not affect operation of the hydroelectric facility. The wooden fishing platform sustained structural damage over the weekend and has been determined unsafe for public use. UPPCO is assessing the extent of the damage and developing a repair plan. Motorcycle-vehicle crash claims one life

SKANDIA — Personnel from the Marquette County Sheriff's Office are investigating the cause of a two-vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon. According to a sheriff's office press release, a pick-up truck was traveling west on M-94 in Skandia Township when it collided with a motorcycle, which was southbound on US 41. Teen missing on ATC found unhurt

MARQUETTE — A missing teenager who was reported riding an ATV in rural Marquette County was found unhurt. The 13-year-old left his home on an ATV at about 9:30 p.m. June 25. He was reportedly riding near Marquette County Road 581 in the vicinity of Steel Bridge Road, according to a press release from the Marquette County Sheriff's Office. After dark, and the teen had not returned home, his mother contacted police.
