Church truck to collect donations for hurricane victims

MARQUETTE — A donation truck for the victims of Hurricane Helene will be collecting items in Marquette this weekend.
Wellspring Community Church in Escanaba is organizing a pickup truck to drive to western North Carolina to aid the victims in Helene’s aftermath, with Pastor Paul Culbertson directly transporting items following their collection.
The collection site will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, located at 555 Riverside Road near Harvey. Anyone who is willing to donate can drop off supplies with the truck from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
WCC is asking for the following types of items to be donated:
≤ Clean, safe drinking water
≤ Trash bags for cleanup and managing debris
≤ Toilet paper and paper towels
≤ Non perishable foods such as canned goods, protein bars and other food items that don’t require cooking or refrigeration
≤ Women’s hygiene products such as pads and tampons
≤ Diapers, wipes, bottles and baby formula
≤ Personal hygiene products such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
≤ New clothing, underwear, socks, blankets, towels, etc.
≤ Over-the-counter medications such as Benadryl, Tylenol and ibuprofen.
≤ Chemical sprayers to make showers with
≤ Dry cat food and dry dog food
If you are in the Escanaba area, WCC will collect donations at its physical location, at 301 N. Lincoln Road inside the Delta Plaza Mall, until Tuesday. Pastor Paul will be making the drive to North Carolina on Wednesday to deliver the donations to those affected.
