Millage recount confirms election results

MARQUETTE — The results are in and nothing — absolutely nothing — has changed.

Thursday’s recount of the May 5 Marquette Area Public Schools millage vote in Marquette City Precincts 3 & 4, Chocolay Township Precinct 2 and Marquette Township Precinct 1 not only confirmed the passing of the MAPS millage, but resulted in the very same number of “yes” and “no” votes as was originally recorded.

The recount was requested by Marquette resident Margaret Brumm, who cited concerns about a “discrepancy between results first reported and final results unofficial.” WLUC, TV6 via Facebook reported, incorrectly on election note, that the millage had failed, before correcting the error almost immediately.

Brumm was present at Marquette Township Hall and observed the recount.
