Aside from trick-or-treating, there are plenty of family-friendly frights to be had in the region. The Highway 2 Community Drive-In Theater in Manistique will be holding its eighth annual Fright Night event on Saturday. The event kicks off at dusk, with a screening of the 1993 kids classic movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” followed by the 2013 remake of “Carrie.” There will be intermissions between movies to allow for people to enter and exit the field.

The gates open at 5:30 p.m. with time to set up for trunk or treat, which starts at 6 p.m. There will be prizes for the best-decorated trunks, as well as the best Halloween costumes.

Admission to Fright Night is free, courtesy of the event sponsor, Nicolet National Bank.

The Highway 2 Community Drive-in Theater is located east of Manistique on U.S. 2 across from the Schoolcraft County Airport.

The event is $4 per person. Participants who wear a costume can be entered into a prize contest.
