MARQUETTE — The woman who was sought as a wanted fugitive and taken into custody Wednesday after allegedly fleeing at high speeds from officers has been arraigned.

Chenoa Rae Phillips, 19, was arraigned in the 96th District Court Thursday on charges in two separate cases.

In one case, which stems from the incident on Wednesday, Phillips was arraigned on seven charges. The charges are, according to court records:

≤ Two counts of fleeing police officer, vehicle code, third degree, a felony;

≤ One count of assault with a dangerous weapon, felonious assault, a felony;

≤ One count of malicious destruction of fire or police property, a felony;

≤ Two counts of police officer assault/resist/obstruct, a felony;

≤ One count of reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

In a separate case, which stems from an Oct. 26 incident, Phillips was arraigned in the 96th District Court Thursday on two charges. The charges are, according to court records:

≤ bond absconding or forfeiting, a felony; and

≤ tampering with an electronic monitoring device, a felony.

Phillips is scheduled for probable cause conferences on Wednesday in the 96th District Court regarding both cases.

Officers located Phillips at 8 a.m. Wednesday driving through K.I. Sawyer. She fled from officers after a traffic stop was attempted, according to a news release from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

Phillips allegedly led officers on a vehicle pursuit lasting several miles through Forsyth, West Branch and Sands townships, with speeds upward of 99 miles per hour, police said.

After officers deployed stop sticks, Phillips’ vehicle came to a stop at M-553 and Taylor Road in Sands Township, police said. There were no injuries reported. Phillips was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

The set of seven charges, six of which are felonies, stem from this incident, police said.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Forsyth Township Police Department.

The sheriff’s department in October asked the public’s assistance in locating Phillips, who was taken into custody on April 13 and lodged in the Marquette County Jail on charges related to absconding from felony bond, removing her GPS tether and resisting and obstructing an officer, police said.

On Oct. 18, Phillips was released from jail with a personal recognizance bond on the condition she be released directly to treatment with a GPS tether.

On Oct. 26, Phillips removed her tether and fled the treatment facility, according to police.

The charges of bond absconding or forfeiting and tampering with an electronic monitoring device stem from this incident, police said.
