MANISTIQUE — A 33-year-old Schoolcraft County man was killed Sunday night in a crash involving a dirt bike and a parked pickup truck on M-77.

According to the Michigan State Police, at approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday, troopers from MSP’s Manistique outpost responded to a reported traffic crash on M-77 near Grant Road in Germfask Township. Upon arrival at the scene, the troopers’ preliminary investigation indicates that a 33-year-old Germfask man was operating a dirt bike on M-77 when he struck a legally parked pickup truck located on the shoulder of the roadway.

Despite life-saving efforts by two citizens, responding troopers and EMS personnel, the man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased while being transported to the hospital by emergency medical services.

The incident remains under investigation.
