MARQUETTE — The public is invited to enjoy an evening of music and entertainment with musicians Joshua Davis and May Erlewine at 7 p.m. Saturday at Kaufman Auditorium.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to the supporting hospice patients and their families for the Trillium House Care Fund. The Trillium House is an eight-room hospice facility located in Marquette that opened its doors last summer to provide a homelike environment for people receiving hospice care.

“This is our major fundraiser,” said Pat Bray, executive director of the Trillium House.

The care fund helps make Trillium House services affordable. Bray said that since the home opened last year, about 75 percent of individuals who come through came the facility needed some financial assistance.

“We know that the people who come to us aren’t necessarily going to have the financial capacity to pay our full fee, so we do discount it based on what people’s finances are,” Bray said. “This helps make up that difference to make sure we can stay operating and helping people and fulfilling our mission.”

The concert features Marquette’s Joshua Davis, who some might know as one a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice,” and Michigan singer and songwriter May Erlewine. Davis will share music from his new album as well as classics from his time on “The Voice.”

Dr. Michael Grossman, director of U.P. Home Health & Hospice and member of the Trillium House board, helped organize the event.

“They are both very good storytellers,” Grossman said. “I think that’s important because the hospice workers — whether they are nurses, physicians or volunteers — they go into the home and they hear the patient’s stories and the family’s stories, and that really has a lot of meaning. I thought they’d fit right into that because they are storytellers.”

Admission is $25 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the door in person, by mail or online at Eventbrite.com. For more information, visit https://trilliumhospicehouse.org/buy-tickets-for-care-fun.
