Bean elected Ishpeming mayor; Chapman, Firby, Skauge take council seats

ISHPEMING — Lindsay Bean won the race for Ishpeming Mayor in Tuesday’s general election.

Bean received 1,338 votes, defeating opponent Pat Scanlon, who garnered 1,315 votes.

The mayor is elected at each General City Election. Those council members whose terms do not expire immediately following the General Election are automatically candidates for the office of Mayor.

In the Ishpeming Council race, seven candidates were vying for three open seats. Jason Chapman won the most votes with 1,544, followed by Elizabeth Firby with 1,518 votes, and Stuart A. Skauge with 989 votes.

Candidate Matt Cody received 775 votes, Mark Lindquist garnered 733 votes followed by Janelle Buttery with 654 votes and Robin Baird with 471 votes.

All election results are unofficial until it is certified by the Marquette County Board of Canvassars.
