Joe Derocha vies for Marquette County Board of Commissioners seat
MARQUETTE — Incumbent Joe Derocha will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot for a two-year term in the District 2 seat on the Marquette County Board of Commissioners.
Derocha garnered 1,436 votes, while challenger Sterling Schultz received 751 votes. One write-in vote was also cast.
According to the county website, the Marquette County Board of Commissioners is the policy-making body with other groups carrying out county policies and/or advising the commissioners while they are in the process of making policy.
District 2 consists of the townships of Negaunee, Ishpeming, Champion, Michigamme, Republic, Humboldt and Ely.
County commissioners are elected to a two-year term.
