Humboldt Township voters to weigh in on sanitation renewal

MARQUETTE — Humboldt Township residents will have the opportunity to renew a 1.5-mill

levy for garbage pickup on Tuesday.

Township Supervisor Tom Prophet said the renewal is an important part of township operations.

“It’s important for the residents of Humboldt Township to continue to get sanitation pickup at their homes,” Prophet said. “This is what pays for that.”

The millage, if approved, would result in a 1.4976 mill levy, or just under $1.50 for every $1,000 of taxable property value for four years beginning in 2019.

The millage is expected to raise an estimated $45,741 in the first year it is levied.
