Wooden Nickel Identified as Potential COVID-19 Exposure Site

MARQUETTE — The Wooden Nickel bar has been identified as a potential COVID-19 exposure site according to a press release sent out by the Marquette County Health Department this morning.

“Through contact tracing efforts, the Marquette County Health Department (MCHD) has become aware of a potential public exposure to a COVID-19 positive individual at the Wooden Nickel located at 1751 Presque Isle Avenue in Marquette,” the release states.

Those who were present at The Wooden Nickel on Aug. 25 or 26 from 5 p.m. to close are advised to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 according to the health department. If symptoms arise, contact your primary medical provider.

“Due to increased rates of COVID-19 within Marquette County, MCHD continues to recommend adhering to all social distancing and hygienic practices needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” the release says. “Preventive measures include wearing a mask, maintaining six feet of distance between individuals whether inside or outside of a building, avoiding physical contact with others, frequent hand washing and avoiding sharing of personal items such as cell phones and water bottles.”
