Retired school workers to meet

MARQUETTE — The Marquette area chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel will hold its annual fall social at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Carp River Gardens, 73 Heritage Drive in Negaunee.

There Jim Somers, retired teacher and Master Gardener, will offer a tour with Q&A. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be held at the new Ishpeming Senior Center, 121 Greenwood St. in Ishpeming, where Senior Center Director Ashley Robers will share information concerning services for seniors, specifically focusing on access to services aimed at reducing early admissions to long term care facilities.

All members and friends of MARSP are invited to attend, with a special welcome extended to all newly retired teachers.

The program will also feature Don Johnson, MARSP District Director, with updates on retirement, pensions and insurance. Newly retired teachers will be recognized.

Coffee and refreshments will be provided. MARSP is requesting a $5 donation for attending the meeting. However, this donation is waived for newly retired teachers.

RSVP by Friday by calling either Mary at 906-486-8096 or BJ at 906-346-9962. They will also take your phone number so you can be called in case the venue is changed. If you have questions, call Kathy at 906-362-5701.
