City offices closed Good Friday

MARQUETTE — City offices including Marquette City Hall at 300 W. Baraga Ave.; the Lakeview Arena at 401 E. Fair Ave.; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. in the Peter White Public Library; and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright St., will be closed on Friday, April 7, in observance of Good Friday. Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time. There will be no changein garbage pickup for City residents.

Group plans Easter Dinner

MARQUETTE — Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly is providing Easter Dinner and more to elderly, isolated neighbors 60 years and over. The meal will be served at 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 9 at the Marquette Elks Lodge, 127 N. Front St. Rides and limited home deliveries are available. Deliveries will take place from noon-2 p.m. Volunteer opportunities are also available prior to and on Easter Sunday afternoon. Missing kayaker identified

By Journal Staff MARQUETTE — The Michigan State Police Negaunee Post released the name of the kayaker whose body was recovered from Lake Superior earlier this month. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a missing person at about 8:50 p.m. on March 12. MSP said Ayala Lopez, an approximately 30- year-old male from out of the area, was found dead in Marquette’s lower harbor at around 9 p.m. on the same day.
