Salamander migration delayed

A portion of Peter White Drive at Presque Isle Park in Marquette is closed to facilitate the migration of blue-spotted salamanders and cut down on their mortality. MARQUETTE — Due to the current snowpack and weather conditions, the start of the salamander migration at Presque Isle Park is not expected to begin for several weeks, the Marquette Police Department announced.

The road closures at the park will not take place until the conditions improve and allow for the migration to begin.

More information on the migration will be released at that time.
