Holly Jolly Jubilee — everyone is invited to join the Friends of the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library between 1 and 3 p.m. for the Second Annual Holly Jolly Jubilee. Also on the lower level there will be holiday music with Jim Janofski as well as a children’s craft and refreshments. On the main floor patrons will have many opportunities to purchase special items, highlighted by vintage collectible books donated by FOL member Judy Conrad. Of particular interest are Little Leather Library and Big Little Books. “Gift quality” used books will be on sale at a special price. The latest FOL recipe book will be offered for the first time as well as 2020 historic Ishpeming calendars and notecards of local landmarks. Local landmarks are also featured on the 10 different ornaments that are now available. Finally, there will be “gently used” holiday items decorating the library that will be offered at very reasonable prices.

Holiday Open House — Spend the afternoon wandering through Peter White Public Library’s Winter Wonderland of Trees while enjoying music and dance by Michael and Erica Waite and refreshments compliments of PWPL’s staff. Children are welcome to make a craft in the Youth Services Department. 3-5 p.m.

Wine Tasting — The Negaunee VFW 3165 Auxiliary will be hosting A Wine Tasting Fundraiser at 6 p.m. at the Post Home. The full breakfast buffet features scrambled eggs, Italian eggs, ham, French toast casserole, sausage, breakfast potatoes, fruit salad, smoked sausage with peppers and onions, juice, milk, and coffee. Pikkujoula — at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, the Finlandia Foundation National Lake Superior Chapter, will hold a program to honor Finland’s 102nd Independence Day (on Dec. 6), and to celebrate “Little Christmas” or “Pikkujoulu.” Music for the program will be provided by the duo of Tanja Stanaway on guitar and accordion, and Ken Holster on banjo. Howard Aalto will be there to play on his “huuliharppu,” a six-sided harmonica. Tanja’s Kids, five young students in her Finnish classes, will sing holiday songs for the group. A brief message about Finnish Independence and about “Little Christmas” will be given by FFN LSC president Ron Hill. There will be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Refreshments will include Finnish coffee bread, bars, Juustoa (Finn cheese) and of course coffee. Janet Wisuri will have her table of Finnish baked goods for sale, and Tanja will have a table for “Heart to Finland” items for sale, ranging from chocolate to coffee cups. This gathering is open to all, members and friends alike. There is no charge for attending. A basket on the refreshment table will collect donations.
