Veterans officer — Stacy King, the American Legion Tribal Veteran Service Officer, will be available to assist all veterans and families of veterans with claims preparation, presentation, counsel and appeal counsel at no cost to the veterans. Blastoff with Storytime @ the Park — 9:30-10 a.m. Mattson Lower Harbor Park by the playground. Reading Space Station #2 — 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Peter White Public Library Community Room. Having completed reading, or being read to, for at least 20 minutes a day for at least 10 days, bring your reading log and come choose your second free book. The first time a youth earns their first book, they will also be entered into the drawing for a chance to win the Grand Prize, a bike from Down Wind Sports, sponsored by the NMU Forest Roberts Theatre. Lunch with Carol — the Marquette Regional History Center presents: July Lunch With the History People. One day each month in July, August, September a different local historians will give a chat over lunch. Bring a pasty and questions. Feeding America — Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are teaming with Feeding America West Michigan to host a food distribution event. From 3-6 p.m., families from our community will have the opportunity to obtain much needed food. Participants are asked to bring a box if able. Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are located at 219 Silver Creek Road in Harvey.

Diabetes support — group meeting from 5-7 p.m. at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum for parents of children living with type 1 diabetes. The group will be meeting every third Thursday of the month. Parents will have a chance to meet and discuss issues, concerns, and get advice from other parents who may be going through similar situations with their children. Snacks will be served. L’Anse concert — The preview performance of the famous Aura Jamboree will be held at the L’Anse Lakefront Park at 7 p.m. This is a free event. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the tunes. The park is along Broad Street at the lake. Meadowbrook Arena is the alternate location if it rains.
