Land conservancy seeks volunteers

MARQUETTE — Volunteer work days for the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month starting in June 20.

The first one will be at the Vielmetti-Peters Reserve near the end of Brickyard Road in Marquette Township.

Brookridge car show planned

MARQUETTE — A car show is planned at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care, 1901 Division St., Marquette, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 22.

UPAWS fundraiser set

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter’s Wash-n-Wag dog wash fundraiser is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 at Tourist Park in Marquette. The rates are: dog washes for $15; conditioner for $5; nail trim for $5; ear cleaning for $5; and microchipping for $20.

All proceeds to benefit UPAWS.

Happy Dogs Grooming and Northern Veterinary Associates will also be offering nail trims and ear cleans to benefit UPAWS. TacoMo Dog Training will also have a booth set up at the event for training needs.

Dogs will receive a star spangled bandana, just in time to look their best for the 4th of July,

Scale modelers showcase on tap

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Regional History Center presents: U.P. Scale Modelers Showcase from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22.

All are welcome to the Marquette Regional History Center for an exhibit day of models created by the Upper Peninsula Scale Modelers. This club has been meeting for over 40 years. Originating at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, the club has grown to encompass modelers of various specialties, from ships and boats to aircraft, armor, and cars.

Bring questions and get an up-close look at the process from club members as they display models in various stages of completion and the tools they use.
