Ely assessor — The Ely Township Assessor will have office hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ely Township Hall.

Al-Anon — 10 a.m. Mission Covenant Church, North Second Street, in Ishpeming.

Bytes with Bugsy — Justin “Bugsy” Sailor, a local entrepreneur, will speak at a lunch and learn session at Amerpersand Coworking Space in downtown Marquette. This week, Facebook vs Twitter vs Instagram vs YouTube. This sessions are free and open to the public, however, each is limited to 25 people and seats are filling up fast, so reserve a spot on eventbrite.com or by contacting the Innovate Marquette SmartZone office via email info@imqt.org or phone 906-227-6261. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., talk starts at noon.

DDA — The Marquette Downtown Development Authority will have a work session at noon at the Marquette Commons, 112 S. Third St. The purpose of the meeting is to meet with consultants regarding the Downtown Identity Enhancement Strategy Project.

MSP Open House — The Michigan State Police, Marquette County Dispatch, and Negaunee Regional Communications Center invite the public to attend their open house at the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post located at 180 U.S. 41E, Negaunee, from 1-4 p.m

Rock with Tom Pease — Come sing and dance with musician Tom Pease at this fun concert for all ages. Peter White Public Library Children’s Branch, Westwood Mall, 4 p.m.

Danna Banana — the Negaunee Public Library will host performer Danna Banana at its Storytime at the Market at 5 p.m. at Miners Park in Negaunee. Danna Banana is a family music singer/songwriter. He “creates music for kids that parents can stand.” This event is for children of all ages and is free to attend. It will be held at the Negaunee Public Library if there is rain.

Summer Reading — Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library, Dulcimer Workshop with James Janofski: 5:30 p.m. Local dulcimer enthusiast James Janofski will offer a fun and casual beginning workshop for those who would like to learn about this unique instrument. Dulcimers will be available for a hands-on experience. Ages 16 and up.

Grief Support — Open grief support group meets 5:30-7 p.m. first/third Wednesdays at Lake Superior Hospice in Marquette. For details call Michele Napier at 225-7760.

Celebrate Recovery — a 12-step, Christ-centered, Biblical and balanced program, supporting people with addictions of all kinds, broken relationships, eating disorders or other issues, meets from 6-8 p.m. at Victory Lutheran Church, 315 Explorer St., Gwinn (K.I. Ely board — The Ely Township Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Ely Township Hall.

Voters Not Politicians — a non-partisan ballot committee to end gerrymandering, is hosting a town hall discussion on the problems caused by gerrymandering and a proposed solution for Michigan voters to consider this fall. The event will be at 6:30 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 W. Magnetic St., Marquette. Attendees are asked to bring two cans of nonperishable food items or make a small donation to support the church’s charitable food pantry.
