Friends of library meet Thursday

ISHPEMING — The Friends of the Ishpeming Public Library will hold their first meeting of 2018 on Thursday.

Meetings are open to all who are interested in supporting the library and its programs. They are held monthly from March through June and from September through December on the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Leverton Community Room on the lower level of the library.

The FOL is a group of citizens committed to the library and the services it provides. They have been supporting the library in a variety of ways for 39 years.

The Friends help focus public attention on the library and promote public and private support for the library. The Friends offer volunteer opportunities and raise funds through book sales and sales of historic calendars and notecards, annual recipe books, and other items from time to time. They also sponsor lyceums and other events several times a year and publish a newsletter four times annually.

The Friends are eager to welcome new members who share their love of books, reading, and libraries.
