Lakefront concert series kicks off

L’ANSE — The 2017 L’Anse Lakefront Concert Program kicks off with The Fiddle Pickers with their brand of Cajun and classic country music.

This free concert is at 7 p.m. Thursday in Lakefront Park at the foot of Broad Street. Those attending should bring a lawnchair or blanket. Meadowbrook Arena is the inclement weather alternate site.

Poultry, livestock swap, bazaar set

MARQUETTE — Great Northern Poultry and Livestock Connection will have its second Swap/Bazaar of the 2017 season it will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 24 at Holmquist Feed Mill in Trenary.

Admission for GNPLC members are free, and non-members are $5 to sell. Membership is $15 per year/per family. Poultry will be tested there will be a fee for this.

A silent auction will run from 10 a.m. to noon. Donations for the auction are accepted and appreciated.

Admission is free to the public rain or shine. All dogs must be on leash. Contact Eileen for information at 906-225-9920 or Connie at 906-346-9506.

Tai Chi Chuan workshops on tap

MARQUETTE — A free public workshop on the practice of Tai Chi Chuan, a mind/body practice will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Marquette Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave., Marquette.

If weather permits, part of the workshop will be held outside at Presque Isle or Mattson Park. No prior experience is needed.

The workshops Saturday, July 15, and Aug. 19, are sponsored by The Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion, and the environment.
