Humboldt Township voters approve sanitation millage
MARQUETTE — Humboldt Township residents on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly to renew a 1.5-mill levy for garbage pickup.
Residents cast 43 “yes” votes to 7 “no” votes for the millage, which will result in a 1.4976 mill levy, or just under $1.50 for every $1,000 of taxable property value for four years beginning in 2019.
It is expected to raise an estimated $45,741 in the first year it is levied.
Election results are considered unofficial until the Marquette County Board of Canvassers meets to certify them at 1 p.m. today.
