Tourville, Angeli win BLP election

TOURVILLE

MARQUETTE — The winners in the Marquette Board of Light and Power election Tuesday were current Board Chairman Tom Tourville and former board chairman Edward Angeli.

Tourville received the most votes with 2,606, and Angeli received 1,901 votes. John Prince came in next with 1,572 votes, followed by board member Dave Carlson with 1,429 votes.

Tourville will continue to serve and Angeli will join the nonpartisan five-member board of directors, each serving three-year terms.

Board members are limited to two consecutive terms.

The board is responsible for overseeing the light and power operations of the city of Marquette and all or parts of nine surrounding townships: Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming, West Branch, Richmond, Chocolay, Skandia, Sands and Forsyth. The BLP has been providing power for over 128 years and serves nearly 17,000 customers.
