Retired state employees to meet

HOUGHTON — State Employee Retirees Association members from the Upper Peninsula plan a noon luncheon July 15 at Kestner Park in Houghton.

The group of State of Michigan retirees will share Roy’s Pasties and sandwiches for lunch before a business session.

The meeting will feature a presentation of retiree health insurance by Arva Overton of Michigan Blue Cross and other benefit information.

State Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Waucedah Township, has also been invited to attend to give a legislative wrap up.

Reservations for the meeting are necessary and can be called in to Edgar Sommers II at 906-250-5560 or emailed to: edgarl1966@yahoo.com no later than July 7.

SERA is an organization of State of Michigan Retirees which represents some three thousand retirees in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The Copper Country meeting is held each summer because of the number of members in the area.

Other meetings are held in the Maquette and Escanaba areas. The Marquette area meeting was in May and the Escanaba area meeting will be the Monday after Labor Day at the Highland Golf Club in Bark River.

Starting at $2.99/week.
