30 years ago MARQUETTE — Lakeview Arena may become tobacco-free in January if the arena’s advisory board has its way. The Marquette City Commission will discuss a proposed smoking ban Dec. 12. The proposal was prompted by complaints that the ventilation system in the arena’s East Conference Room smoking area is inadequate for clearing the air of the smoke produced during hockey game period breaks.
