Manager hours — Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli will hold his next community office hours from 10 a.m. to noon in the Dandelion Cottage room, located on the first floor of the Peter White Public Library, near the Huron Mountain Gallery. The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with city staff about interests and concerns.

Soup — The Trinity Lutheran Church women will sponsor a soup luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Featured will be homemade soup, bread, bars and beverages. The public is invited. The church is located at 414 E. Ridge St. in Ishpeming.

IHS 1957 — The Ishpeming High School Class of 1957 meets at 11 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ishpeming, for soup lunch.

Holiday grief — The pain of holiday grief can sometimes be lessened considerably through planning ahead, and during October and November, at churches and other venues Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice is offering a presentation titled “Managing Grief Thru the Holidays.” Printed hand-outs will be given to all those attending. One upcoming presentation will take place at the Marquette Senior Center at 11:30 a.m.

Woolies — All former Woolworth employees are invited to meet for lunch at noon at Big Boy in Marquette.

Math Night — Cherry Creek Elementary School will be holding its annual fall math night, “Monsters, Mummies, and Math” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This event includes a spooky trail walk, numerous hands on math activities with volunteers from NMU sports teams, Fish and Wildlife, Chocolay Police Department and other organizations. Since this year is also Cherry Creek’s 25th Anniversary, there will be anniversary activities as well. This will include a memory room and opening a time capsule that was sealed in the building the year the school opened.
