Marquette County Sheriff’s Office deputy tests positive for COVID-19

A deputy in the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a press release from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was notified of the positive test result on Sunday evening, officials said in the release.

The deputy had been tested on June 2 along with other jail staff as part of the protocol to combat COVID-19.

The current case is not believed to be related to the case of an inmate who tested positive in May, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputy who tested positive is currently in quarantine and additional testing of staff is occurring, officials said.

As of today’s date, no other current cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Marquette County Jail and protocols are being followed to “help reduce the change of exposure to both staff and inmates,” the release states.
