MSHS’ Olivier signs to play at Ferris
MARQUETTE — Marquette Senior High School No. 1 singles tennis star Alec Olivier signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday to attend and play tennis at Ferris State University this fall.
Olivier, going into his senior season this spring at MSHS, is unbeaten in three seasons of high school competition all at No. 1 singles.
Olivier has also claimed the Upper Peninsula Division 1 No. 1 singles title in each of his high school seasons.
Olivier, whose tennis background can be traced back to hitting balls in his driveway at 2 or 3 years old, will join a Ferris State team that was ranked 17th nationally in NCAA Division II last season, finishing with a 21-3 record.
The Bulldogs also claimed the GLIAC championship over Wayne State 5-0, advancing to the Midwest regional of the NCAA tournament.
