Doney, Gobert lead Dave’s 41-run explosion

NEGAUNEE — Libbie Doney and Jamee Gobert homered to lead an offensive explosion by Dave’s Collision in its 41-7 victory over Paradise Bar on opening night in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on May 15.

Doney also hit for the cycle while Paradise’s Jessica Harper was 3 for 4 and teammate Stacey Stone 2 for 3.

Also in Class B, Kara Szember went 4 for 4 with six RBIs to lead Pasquali’s to a 21-5 win over Martin Sports. Tracy Lajoie went 3 for 4 for the winners, while Martin’s Nicole Lincoln tripled and Nikki Maki doubled.

Becky Lee hit a triple and double and teammate Gabby Connors homered in Venice’s 20-15 win over Signs Unlimited, whose Becky Gauthier was credited for good pitching.

Brandi Maxon homered in Buster’s 24-5 victory over Brogie’s, which saw Kim Koski get a hit.

In the other “B” game, Globe Printing won by forfeit over Quality Car Care.

In Class A, Paige Rivard hit a pair of homers and teammates Katie Rankinen, Shana Caliguri and Taryn Moyle cracked one apiece in Tino’s 22-6 win over Riverside Club.

Riverside’s Veronica Slone also homered while Thalicia DellAngelo and Grace Zimmermann each tripled.

Nicolette Schultz homered in Cognition Brewing Co.’s 11-6 win over Buck’s Party Store. The winners also got triples from Courtney Waara, Tiah Pusakulich and Brigitte LaPointe and a double from Molly Wales.

Ashley Maki collected four hits and teammate Steph Robar three as Heritage Glove Repair scored an 18-10 win over Jasper Ridge Brewery, which got three hits from Amber Emanuelson.

Nicole Gustafson went 4 for 5 to lead Screened Image/Venice 2 to a 16-4 victory over Sisters. The victors’ Beth Christianson was 3 for 4 while Sisters’ Brooke Etelamaki was 2 for 3.

In Class C, Palomaki Family Chiropractic ended its 26-8 win over U.P. Fabricating with an unusual triple play. The winners’ Briana Bancroft hit three triples, while Jenni Quayle, Mallory Pruett and Katie Trudgeon all homered in support of winning pitcher Kathy Gischia.

Rachael Mager homered for UPF.

Jenny Anderson went 5 for 5 to lead OSS to a 30-4 whomping of Willey’s Tire Shop, which saw Miranda Cobb homer and go 2 for 2.

Chastity Ellet went 3 for 3 with a triple and Amy Bazinette 2 for 3 with a double to help the Negaunee Eagles pull out a 7-2 win over River Rock Lanes, whose Jordan Fitzpatrick and Shannon Revello each went 2 for 3.

Natalee Dobson, Liz Farley and Adrienne Suardini all homered as Jack’s Teepee put together a 27-2 thrashing of Marquette Embroidery, whose Katie Menard tripled.

In the other “C” game, Pineshears won by forfeit over Bertucci Construction.
