Wildcats cited for academics
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University’s hockey team is well represented on the WCHA All-Academic team announced Tuesday.
A dozen players made the list – five seniors, two juniors and five sophomores – for recording at least a 3.0 grade-point average. The seven upperclassmen are repeat honorees.
Of the NMU All-Academic skaters, nine were previously honored as WCHA Scholar-Athletes for achieving at least a 3.50 GPA during the previous two semesters or a cumulative GPA of 3.50.
These are the NMU WCHA honorees, their year in school and major:
Cohen Adair, sr., computer science; Zach Diamantoni, soph., finance and risk management; Derek Dun, sr., finance and risk management; Jordan Klimek, soph., management; Aaron Leach, sr., biology/physiology; and Brock Maschmeyer, jr., public relations; Darren Nowick, sr., construction management; Robbie Payne, soph., finance and risk management; Sami Salminen, jr., management; Filip Starzynski, soph., management; Ryan Trenz, sr., finance and risk management; and Easton Viitala, soph., entrepreneurship.
