Dompierre, Terzaghi leads Signs to upset win
NEGAUNEE — Leah Dompierre went 3 for 3 and Erin Terzaghi 2 for 2 with a triple to lead Signs Unlimited to a 7-3 upset of Tino’s in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Wednesday.
Tino’s suffered its first loss of the season, but at 6-1 still has a one-game edge on Signs Unlimited and Quality Car Care, each at 5-2.
In other “B” action, Joanna Smail went 5 for 5 with a pair of doubles and a triple to lead Quality Car Care to a 24-9 triumph over the Elks Lodge.
Katelyn Lammi also hit a trio of doubles and a home run for the winners, while Jen Laurila and Jamie Bryan each were 2 for 2 for Elks.
Val Prusi was 5 for 5 with a homer to lead Palomaki Family Chiropractic to a narrow 14-13 win over Pineshears.
Tara Roberts also tripled in support of winning pitcher Kathy Gischia, while for Pineshears, Chesley Wunder homered and tripled while Toni Tikkanen doubled.
And Hailey Hytinen hit a pair of homers, one of the prodigious over-the-fence variety, as Paradise Bar outscored Willey’s Tire Shop 24-13.
Also for the winners, Katie Mitchell was 5 for 5 with two triples, Rachel Hytinen 5 for 5 with a double, Jennifer Hytinen-Polkki 4 for 5 with a double and April Lawer 4 for 5, while Mariah Heard hit a homer.
Lindsay Williams and Amy Williams each went 4 for 5 with a triple for Willey’s, whose Cherie Johnson also was 3 for 4 with a double.
In Class A, Jasper Ridge Brewery moved into a tie with Barrel + Beam for second place with a 21-8 victory when those two teams faced off.
Jasper was led by Annie Bjork-Masuga and Amber Emanuelson each going 4 for 5, Bjork-Masuga hitting a pair of doubles and Emanuelson one two-bagger, while Jackie Skradski homered for B+B as each team now stands at 5-2.
Congress Pizzas remained a perfect 7-0 and atop the division with a big 20-1 victory over LaCosse & Associates.
The winners’ Nikki Whitford went 3 for 4 and Chelsie Wealton 2 for 3, while LaCosse’s Lexi Pomplun was 2 for 2 with a triple.
Also in “A,” Bethany Suomi homered, tripled and collected five RBIs as Pasquali’s bounced the Eagles 23-9.
The winners’ Cheryl Kuzak hit a triple and Michelle Gray and Eliina Miilu both hit doubles, while the Eagles’ Liv Negilski homered and doubled, Jess Geist homered and Meladee Bess went 3 for 3.
Kenzie Karki was 4 for 4 while Morgan Carlson and Brandi Maxon both tripled as River Rock posted a 26-16 win over Dave’s Collision-Jack’s, whose Jordann Lori, Libby Doney and Payton Manninen each hit a triple.
