Myers smacks one over fence in Tino’s win in Iron Range softball

NEGAUNEE — Taryn Myers hit a not-often-seen, over-the-fence home run while adding a triple to lead Tino’s to a 38-21 victory over Pineshears in a Class B game of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League in Week 3 of the season on Wednesday.

Teammates Amber Forchini and Paige Willey both went 6 for 6 in this big slugfest, while that pair along with the winners’ Randi Roose all hit one double.

Pineshears was led by Kathy Johnson and Lindy Martin both going 4 for 4 and teammates Casey Dugan and Toni Tikkanen hitting a homer apiece.

In another “B” game, Emily Wright was 4 for 4, Karlie Kargela 3 for 3 and Deanna Mingay tripled to pace the Elks Lodge to an 11-6 triumph over Palomaki Family Chiropractic, whose Jenn Quayle was 3 for 3 and Izzy Prusi tripled.

Hailey Hytinen hit a grand slam homer as she and Katie Mitchell both went 4 for 4 in Paradise Bar’s 14-6 victory over Signs Unlimited.

The winners’ Kylie Tobias was 3 for 4 with a homer, while Signs’ Nikki Maki went 3 for 4 and Erin Terzaghi tripled and collected two RBIs.

And Lori Ring and Tracy LaJoie each went 5 for 5 with five runs scored to lead Quality Car Care to a 24-3 win over Willey’s Tire Shop.

Becky Moyle was 2 for 2 for QCC, while Willey’s Beckey Grove also went 2 for 2 as teammate Cherie Johnson doubled.

In Class A, Amanda Harlock went 5 for 5 with a pair of doubles and Karlie Patron was 3 for 4 with a homer as Barrel + Beam pounded out a 23-12 triumph over Pasquali’s, whose Thalicia DelAngelo tripled and had three RBIs and Frannie Kelly doubled and chalked up two RBIs.

Also in “A,” Chelsie Wealton had four hits to support winning pitcher Ashley Maki as Congress Pizzas took a 14-11 victory over River Rock, whose Quinn Whitford was 4 for 4 and Morgan Carlson hit two doubles.

Halie LeSage was 3 for 3 and Peyton Manninen tripled to lead Dave’s Collision to an 11-6 win over Jasper Ridge Brewery, whose Erika Bjorne tripled as both teams were cited for great defense.

Jordan Kowalski, Jenna Wedgworth and Rayna Warchock all tripled as LaCosse & Associates took an 18-7 triumph over the Eagles, whose Jess Geist also tripled.
