MARQUETTE – The Marquette Golf Club held two days of qualifying for its club championship on the Greywalls course over the weekend.

Defending champion KC Bjorne receives an automatic No. 1 seed in the field of 16 for the match-play rounds that begin Saturday to whittle the field down to a champion.

Dennis Hruska and Jim Higgins were the top qualifiers after each shot 149 for 18-hole rounds held Saturday and Sunday. Hruska earned the No. 2 seed with 78 on Saturday and 71 on Sunday, while Higgins is No. 3 with 76 and 73, respectively.

These are the other qualifiers, with their Saturday and Sunday rounds and two-day total: No. 3, Mike Marietta, 77-73-150; No. 4, Chad Wester, 77-75-152; No. 5, Mike Devine, 77-76-153; No. 6, Austin Hummell, 82-72-154; No. 7, Scott Erickson, 77-78-155; No. 8, Rick Rhoades, 80-76-156; No. 9, Dan Viitala, 78-79-157; No. 10, Scott Koski, 82-77-159; No. 11, Dan Nygard, 78-81-159; No. 12, Nate Aho, 75-84-159; No. 13, Dan McCutcheon, 81-79-160; No. 14, Ed Grimes, 77-83-160; and No. 15, George Trujillo, 75-86-161.

First-round matches will be Bjorne vs. Trujillo, Hruska vs. Grimes, Higgins, McCutcheon, Marietta vs. Aho, Wester vs. Nygard, Devine vs. Koski, Hummell vs. Viitala and Erickson vs. Rhoades.
