Northern Michigan University women’s track team wins events at St. Norbert meet
The Al Owens Classic is being held at Grand Valley State in Allendale and runs today and Saturday.
Several Wildcats took part at the St. Norbert Twilight Meet on April 14 in De Pere, Wisconsin, and earned multiple wins and other top finishes.
NMU freshman Elyse Wolfrath won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.05 seconds.
Marquette Senior High School graduate and NMU senior Izabelle Peterson won the 100 dash in 12.17.
Senior Anna Kelley won the 5,000 run in 18:28.90.
Fellow senior teammate Elise Longley was third in 18:41.67, sophomore Madison Malon fourth in 18:48.85 and redshirt freshman Anni Skillicorn seventh in 19:32.60.
In addition, sophomore Meghan Langworthy won the 10,000 in 40:29.97 with sophomore Emily Sterling was runner-up in 40:38.36.
And Northern redshirt freshman Leah Root tied for second in the pole vault by clearing 3.4 meters (11-feet-1.75).
After this weekend, the Wildcats travel to the Drake Alternative Meet in Whitewater, Wisconsin, next Friday.
This will be their final meet before the GLIAC Outdoor Championships to be held May 4-6 back at GVSU.
