REPUBLIC — Tailyn Raisanen scored 10 points but Republic-Michigamme was overwhelmed early as Chassell posted a 59-19 girls basketball victory on Monday night.

After a modest 13-7 lead through one quarter, the Panthers opened up a 30-9 advantage at halftime, extending it to 46-11 by the end of the third quarter.

Allie Radcliffe added four points, Sophia Jarvi three and Leah McCracken two for the Hawks, who lost the JV game, 49-32.

Maelene Warren paced Chassell with 26 points, which included six 3-pointers.

In another game involving an area team on Monday, Mid Peninsula defeated Superior Central 69-28 as the Cougars’ Liz Molag pulled in 12 rebounds.
