IRON MOUNTAIN — The Marquette boys were joined by the Menominee girls in winning honors in a Great Northern Conference golf meet held Monday at Pine Grove Country Club.

The Redmen were led by medalist Tyler Bergwall with 40 to post a team total of 171, beating out runner-up Escanaba by six strokes. Kingsford with third with 198, followed by Gladstone with 201 and Menominee 220.

Jordan Jurmu added 41 for Marquette, with Karsten Kamps adding 43 and Joe Luke 47.

Escanaba’s Nathan Rousseau and Kingsford’s Matt Solda each shot 42.

Josie Hofer’s 49 led the Maroons girls, who had 213. Kingsford was runner-up with 223, followed by Escanaba with 243, Marquette 332 and Gladstone 356.

The Redettes two scorers, Zoe Smith and Abby Hellman, each shot 67.

Medalist Paxton Johnson of Escanaba shot a 44, while Menominee’s Josie Hofer had 49.

The GNC golf season concludes on Thursday morning at the Marquette Golf Club.
