Volunteers needed for July 4 parade
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Kiwanis July 4th Parade is coming – fire up
Even though it’s May, the Marquette Kiwanis July 4th Parade is right around the corner. Marquette Kiwanis celebrates its 30th year sponsoring the Parade. This year’s theme is “United We Stand.” To make this parade another success we need the community’s help.
We need SIX more firecracker sponsors at $500 to fund the parade. To sponsor, go online to our website parade page at Marquettefourth.com. The deadline is June 1. Smaller donations can be mailed to Kiwanis Club at P.O. Box 563, Marquette, MI 49855.
Also, your group can still enter a float or marching group, the deadline is June 6. To enter a float, go online to the parade page of Marquettefourth.com.
Due to the record crowd in 2024 of more than 6,000, we need 10 more volunteer crossing guards to protect the children scrambling for candy, you can volunteer via email at directormqtparade@gmail.com.
We also need four more convertibles or open top jeeps to drive community dignitaries, such as the city mayor, the Northern Michigan University president, MAPS teachers of the year and veteran of the year. If you can help with this, please email us at the above email.
We appreciate any help you can provide. Keep in mind, we need more community support to make the 4th a success. It is one of the few events of the year that brings all of us together, for United We Stand.
