To the Journal editor:

Can someone please explain why Marquette, a city professing concern about a great need for affordable housing in the city, a city that has eagerly approved multiple eyesore expensive condo developments that obscure public view of the lake, just turned down by a unanimous city council vote an affordable housing development project on city owned land and then had the city manager still professing concern about the lack of affordable housing in Marquette?

Action on affordable housing seems to be in very short supply these days. On the surface, it appears that Marquette is all talk and no action on this issue; $279,000 and up condos are not affordable housing, no matter what the city commission approves.
