Many happenings this weekend in local area

There is a wide range of events being held in Superiorland this weekend.

On Friday, the 22nd annual Blueberry Festival will be held in downtown Marquette from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. along West Washington Street and South Front Street.

www.downtownmarquette.org states, “Blueberry Festival, downtown comes alive with sidewalk sales and a wide variety of blueberry-themed food and drink options. Indulge in the many blueberry delights, from blueberry pizza to blueberry beer, offered by the downtown restaurants, and take advantage of the “blue” specials available at the many shops.”

On Saturday, the St. Rocco – St. Anthony Society of Ishpeming’s Italian Fest will hold its 124th annual event at Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming. There is no admission fee and everyone is welcome, regardless of their heritage. The event kicks off at noon. The music schedule is as follows: from noon to 2 p.m Party to Jazz will perform. At 2 p.m., Soundz of Time with Jan and Gino will perform on stage until 4 p.m. From 5-7 p.m., the Diamanti band of Chicago, Illinois, will perform classic contemporary Italian and American music. The 29th annual OutBack Art Fair, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, will be at Shiras Park. Unique Upper Peninsula art will be spotlighted, such as paintings of natural Marquette scenery, hand-crafted wooden furniture, jewelry, recycled yard art and more. Admission is free.

The 63rd annual Art on the Rocks is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette. Admission is free.

Art on the Rocks is presented by the Lake Superior Art Association.

Also on Saturday, the Highway 2 Community Drive-in Theater in Manistique is screening the 1982 classic film, “E.T.”
