Area youth of all ages to participate in Easter egg hunts

Spring is officially in the air, and that means the Easter Bunny is coming.

For those who are looking to get a bit of the holiday spirit going, there are a number of family-friendly events in the Superiorland region this weekend.

The United Way of Marquette County along with Escape Marquette and HOTplate Pottery are presenting the sixth annual Marquette City-Wide Egg Hunt. The city-wide hunt started Monday and runs through Friday. A dozen eggs are hidden around Marquette with great prizes for the winners.

The week culminates in a children’s egg hunt at Presque Isle at 11 a.m. Saturday by the band shell, where kiddos can find some of 3,000+ eggs. The egg hunt is followed by a prize ceremony for the winners of the city-wide egg hunt. Organizers suggest arriving early so that you are ready to hunt when it starts. The egg hunt is free and open to everyone.

In addition, the Chocolay Lions Club is putting on an Easter egg hunt for the 20th year.

This year, it will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Silver Creek Church, 219 Silver Creek Road, Harvey.

The Easter Bunny will cut the ribbon at 11:15 a.m. Also, there will be specially marked golden eggs for special prizes. There will be a special decorated room for pre-schoolers. Refreshments will be served. Those attending are invited to bring a camera for photos with the Easter Bunny. The event also is sponsored by Silver Creek Church.

For donations or more information, contact Pete LaRue from the Chocolay Lions at 228-6656 or 250-9934.

And for those on the west end, the Ishpeming Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at 301 N. First St. in Ishpeming. This event is hosted by the Grace Episcopal Church and the new Hygge Center.

All of these are great options for your family to get out and embrace the changing of the season. If you don’t already have plans for the weekend, consider one of these fun events.
