Like quilts? Check out Saturday event from local group

We encourage everyone to find some time this weekend to visit a special exhibit: the 2019 Autumn Comfort Quilts Show.

Presented by the Marquette County Quilters Association, the show takes place at Northern Michigan University’s Northern Center Grand Ball Room from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is just $5 per day.

The event includes a chance to win the 2019 Raffle Quilt “Northern Lights” — that drawing will be at 3 p.m. Sunday — as well as vendors, demonstrations and door prizes.

Many quilts will be hung for viewing at the show, affording a chance to see some amazing work being done by local quilters.

And two of those veteran quilters will be saluted this weekend as they become part of the Marquette County Quilters Association Hall of Fame. Judy Parlato will be saluted at 1 p.m. Saturday and Alice Johnson at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Quilting is a beautiful art/craft form. We are fortunate to have a local group like the Marquette County Quilters Association whose members keep this wonderful art alive and thriving.
