Even though it may not feel quite like spring yet in the Upper Peninsula, the Easter bunny will make his way out of hibernation and down to the Marquette area on Saturday morning.

First off, the kids Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. near the Presque Isle Bandshell in Marquette, but everyone is encouraged to arrive early to have pictures taken with the Easter bunny. There will be free pizza for kids from Aubree’s in Marquette to all kids hunting for eggs.

The event will have more than 900 toy-filled eggs hidden in the area around the bandshell.

In addition, in a separate event, prizes can be claimed by the Marquette City-Wide Egg Hunt winners following the kids egg hunt. The Superiorland Kiwanis and Andrew Rickauer held the Marquette City-Wide Egg Hunt this year, with 12 eggs that were hidden around Marquette. Clues were posted on the Superiorland Kiwanis and the Facebook event pages throughout the week to help find the eggs.

Hunting began Monday, and goes until all the eggs are found. There are many great prizes from the local area that can be won and find the golden egg and win the grand prize.

The Chocolay Lions Club will also be hosting the 17th annual Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Silver Creek Church in Harvey. Refreshments will be served, and parents should bring their cameras to get pictures with the Easter bunny. There will also be a special decorated room set up for pre-schoolers.

Although a light dusting of snow is expected on Saturday, most of us Yoopers are very accustomed to a late spring. Just make sure to bundle up the little ones, and bring a basket or plastic bag for collecting eggs!

These family-friendly events are a great way to kick off the month of April and remind the little ones that even though it may not feel like it yet — spring is actually coming, someday.
