Kaleva, age 98, longtime Republic resident, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided for nearly 2 years. Patricia was born in Ishpeming on November 26, 1925, a daughter of the late Miriam (Keto) and Guy Alderton. She grew up in National Mine and was a graduate of the National Mine High School as salutatorian of the Class of 1942. Nancy was born June 26, 1945 in Bremerton, Washington, to Elmer and Eleanor (Hautamaki) Teppola, and graduated from Ishpeming High School. She was a longtime nurse’s aide at the Palmer Home for the Aged, and was a devoted homemaker to her family. MARQUETTE, MI- Louis Frank Taccolini, 92, of Marquette died on January 20, 2024 at Trillium House-Marquette, surrounded by family, following a brief illness. Louis was born April 6, 1931 in Princeton, Michigan, to Frank and Letizia Taccolini. He graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School in 1948, where he participated four years on the varsity basketball team. He was the first U.P. basketball player to score over 1000 points.
