Sheila R. West

Sheila was born December 12, 1956 in Marquette to Robert ‘Bummer’ and Annette (Lehtinen) Heggaton and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1975. She attended NMU prior to beginning her career in the food industry. She worked various jobs within the industry, and ultimately retired from Touchstone Mental Health in Minneapolis in 2019, always going above and beyond to serve her residents. Following her retirement, she returned to Negaunee.

In her spare time, Shelia loved cooking and preparing for meals, sharing recipes, fantasy football, reality TV shows, shopping and hunting for bargains, and was avid Green Bay Packers fan. She had a big heart and a quirky sense of humor who loved to laugh, and even more enjoyed to make others laugh.

Surviving are her mother, Annette Heggaton of Negaunee Township; daughter, Kara (Raymond) Borghi of Palmer; grandchildren: Ava, Antone, and Annika Borghi; her sisters: Terese (Larry) Tamminen, Brenda (Mark) Alexander, and Lois (Jason) DeRocher; three brothers: Dan, David, and Roger (Billie Joe) Heggaton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert ‘Bummer’ Heggaton; her maternal grandmother, Hilma Alanen; brother, Butch Heggaton; a nephew, Rudy Tamminen; and her beloved canine, Beanz.

Graveside services will be held in the Negaunee Cemetery, with date and time to be announced by Koskey Funeral Home.
