Mary A. Slattery

MARQUETTE, MI- Mary A. Slattery, 73, of Marquette, Mich., passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at UP Health System in Marquette, Mich.

She was born July 1, 1952, in Stambaugh, Mich., daughter of the late Joseph F. and Ruth G. (Reimann) Slattery. Mary grew up in Crystal Falls, Mich. In her younger years, she was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, and after moving to Marquette, she became a member of St. Louis King Catholic Church.

Mary enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing and boating. She will be remembered as a social butterfly to all those who knew her. Mary loved her friends and time spent at Bay Cliff Health Camp, Fortune Lake Bible Camp, her workplace, and Norlite Nursing Care Center. As a resident of Norlite she was President of the Residents Council. Mary was also an avid Green Bay Packer Fan.

Survivors include her brother, Joseph (Ginger) Slattery; three nieces, Sarah (David) Paul, Shannon (Paul) Wiersma, and Jessica (Alex) Thivierge; by great-nieces and great-nephews, Felicity and Emmalynn Paul, Naomi and Jude Wiersma, and Elijah Thivierge, and by many cousins.

A visitation will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls, Mich. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Rev. Dan Dapaah will officiate. Burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in the spring. A celebration of life will be announced for St. Louis King Catholic Church in Marquette, Mich., in May.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bay Cliff Health Camp, Fortune Lake Bible Camp, or the Norlite Nursing Care Activities fund in Mary’s memory.
