Marion Florence (Fritz) Myshrall

FT. MYERS, FL-Fritz Myshrall of Green Acres, Florida, died peacefully at the home of her daughter in Ft. Myers, with daughters by her side, on Halloween night, 2024. She was halfway through her 103rd year.

Born May 14, 1922 to Frank and Alice Logic in Escanaba, Michigan, the family moved to Iron Mountain, MI where she grew up. Fritz lived a vibrant and full life. As a young woman she moved to Washington DC, with her best friend, Peggy. She worked as a secretary for Senator Ferguson. She eventually returned to Iron Mountain and worked as a secretary at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. She met her husband, Jack, who was employed at the VA as fire chief. They moved to Marquette in 1956, as Jack was the Assistant Fire Chief at the newly opened K.I. Sawyer AFB.

Fritz and Jack raised four girls in Marquette. Fritz was a hands-on, active mom. She was the mom that played lifeguard at the Stone Quarry in South Marquette and two neighborhood pools. She was the mom at the ski-hill, the ice rink, the tennis courts, and the cross-country trails. She was an accomplished bridge player. She loved to play the piano and listen to her classical music. She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a Girl Scout Leader.

Fritz and Jack retired and moved to Green Acres, Florida in 1983. However, they returned to Marquette every summer, for 3 months living on East Michigan St. Spending time on Lake Superior at their daughter’s camp with family and friends was always a highlight of their summer experience. Fritz had a core group of girl friends who loved to follow all the dance exercise groups that were popular in the 80s and 90s. These friends had a traditional Thursday lunch date, taking turns hosting at their homes, during the summer months.

Fritz was an avid reader and NY Times crossworder, which she continued to enjoy through her late 90s. She also boasted riding 12 miles a day on her bike well into her 90s.

Fritz is survived by her four daughters, Sue Yarusso of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jodi (Ron) Ryoti, Alli (Greg) Smith, both of Marquette, and Miki O’Donovan of Ft. Myers, FL. Also 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; Kaylie (Tom) Anthos, their children Greyson, Isabelle and Harrison; Derek (Heather) Ryoti; Jon (Julie) Yarusso; Chris (Angie) Yarusso, their children, Sophia, Calvin, and Stella; Trevor, Tristan (Kalei), their son Franklin, Natalie (Jim), and Peter (Kammie) Smith; Conor (Lauren) Flanigan their son Jack; Haley (Mason) O’Donovan, their children Isabelle and Caroline Moore; and Paige O’Donovan. She is also survived by her dance/lunch friends, Maureen DesJardins, Gina Johnson and Diana Nelson.

Preceding her in death was her husband Jack in 2011, sons-in-law, Frank (Mike) Smith, and Ray Hite; and siblings; Jimmy Logic, Dr. Joseph (Margo) Logic and Joanne (Eugene) Taglienti.

Fritz’s longevity may be attributed to her motto to her girls: ‘Open the window and put on some lipstick!’ and a glass of wine, now and then! We were fortunate to have hosted her 100th birthday when she was able to enjoy family and friends.

Honoring her wishes, we will have a private family celebration this summer. RIP mom!
