CHRISTMAS, MI – Beverly Ann “Annie” Bowyer, age 88, of Ridge Road, died early Thursday morning, June 1st, 2023, at her home.
She was born on November 7th, 1934, in Eaton Rapids, MI, to Robert and Alice (Smith) McManus and raised on the family farm. Annie graduated from Eaton Rapids High School. Following high school, she went to work at Michigan Bell as an operator. On May 7th, 1955, she married, Maurice “Moe” Bowyer, and began raising their family. In 1960, the family moved to the Munising area where their family grew, and together they raised their four children. Annie worked at the local restaurants and hotels before going to work at Timber Products and retiring from there. Annie was active in the Eastern Star when Moe was a member of the Grand Island Masonic Lodge. She was truly happiest at home and loved helping raise her grandbabies. She was a gifted seamstress sewing clothes for her children and talented with crochet hooks and shared her doilies and afghans with family and friends. Annie also enjoyed gardening and watching the wildlife, she loved animals. Annie and Moe were married over sixty years when he preceded her in death on August 25th, 2015.
Annie is survived by three children – Dan Bowyer of Rice Lake, WI, Kris Francis of Munising, and Cheri (Doug) Lare of Munising; grandchildren – Brad, Jessica, Aimee, Megan, Jennifer, Kaila, Heather, and Savana; stepgrandchildren – Kassi and Kyle; great-grandchildren – Henry, Ariya, Auna, Bryant, Owen, Lily, Caleb, Brianna, Eilyn, Myla, and Lucy is on the way; brother – Dennis McManus; sister – Esther Harris, numerous nieces and nephews and Mr. Kitty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Moe, daughter – Cynthia “Cyndy” Bowyer, and brothers – Russell, Robert “Jack”, Doug, Pete, and Alden McManus.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Friday, June 9th, 2023. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until 12:00 p.m. Pastor Tera Kossow will conduct Annie’s funeral service at 12:00 noon in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery and then a fellowship luncheon will be held at Annie and Moe’s home.
