ISHPEMING — At least a dozen residents have complained to the Ishpeming Township Board about vandalism in their community. Many complain that youth go about the township unsupervised, vandalizing homes, speeding in cars and playing loud music. Charles Rose, a 35-year township resident, has documented numerous case of vandalism at his home over the past year and a half. Rose lives near the township park, which has a basketball court, baseball field and tennis courts. The park has kids in it at all hours of the night, he said. Rose believes Ishpeming kids come to the township to hang out after the city’s 10 p.m. curfew. Many residents asked the board Tuesday to implement a township curfew to get kids off the streets.

ISHPEMING — The old Ridge St. School, vacant for several years, will be sold to the firm of Pajula & Maki, Ishpeming contractors, for $2,100. The Ishpeming Board of Education accepted the P-M bid at a regular meeting this week. It had advertised for bids during the past year and also had sought figures on costs to raze the property. Members felt that demolition charges were too high. A committee was named to study salaries for school personnel after members held a 45-minute discussion on the matter.

Starting at $4.00/week.
