ISHPEMING TWP, MI – Robert C. “Bob” Lundin, age 81, lifelong area resident, passed away on Thursday May 18, 2023 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family, UP Home Health and Hospice, and nursing home staff.

Bob was born in Ishpeming on March 9, 1942, son of the late Francis and Mary (Stagliano) Lundin. He attended Ishpeming High School and graduated with the class of 1961. Bob worked for Cliffs for 31 years, serving 14 years in ore improvement, and 17 years as a plant repairman at the Tilden Mine. He also served 31 years with the Michigan Army National Guard where he was called up to Active Duty during the Detroit Riots in July of 1967. Bob also served on the Ishpeming Twp. Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. Bob was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he married his wife of 53 years Elizabeth (Kirby) Lundin on October 4, 1969. He was also a member of the Ishpeming Pioneer Kiwanis, Oddfellows Lodge, AmVets, Negaunee Male Chorus, the Wesley United Methodist Church Choir, Emaus Brothers, Big Brothers, Ishpeming Elks, and volunteered at the Ishpeming Salvation Army.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an excellent wood carver where he made many walking sticks that he would give to anyone he saw with a walking ailment. He will be fondly remembered as the Werther’s man, always carrying a pocket full and handing them out to people throughout his days.

Bob is survived by his wife- Elizabeth (Kirby) Lundin, 2 daughters- Ellen (Jeff) Lundin, Jennifer (Preston) Lundin, sister- Kathryn Frederickson, grandchildren- Dylan (Amber) Kachur, Mark (Kelly) Livermore, Brittany Slack, Hannah (Charlie) Solis, Samantha (Louis) Bazinette, great grandchildren- McKenzie, Kaylie, Aubrie, Winnie, Juliet, Astra, Cereza, Seth, and Henry who is expected to be born sometime this month, nieces and nephews- Karen (Clint) Yarholar, David (Laura Pernice) Lundin, Cheryl Frederickson, Kirsten (Brian) Honkala, Kellie (Sam) Posey, along with several great nieces and nephews, special friends and neighbors- Lynn Olson, Ernesto Briones, and Bradley Bazinette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Francis and sister-in-law Joyce Lundin, brother- Charles and sister-in-law Christine Lundin, brother-in-law- Donald Frederickson, and nephew- Donnie Frederickson.

Bob’s family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday May 28, 2023 at the Wesley United Methodist Church from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Bob Freysinger officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
