Clyde H. Dodge

ISHPEMING TWP MI – Clyde H. Dodge, age 91, longtime Ishpeming Twp. resident, passed away on Thursday December 1st, 2022, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family and nursing home staff.

Clyde was born in Rhinelander, WI, on August 25th, 1931, son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Vanderhayden) Dodge. He and his family moved to Ishpeming where he attended Ishpeming High School. Clyde was the last surviving member of the 1950 State Championship Basketball Team. Following graduation from Ishpeming, Clyde worked for the Jones and Laughlin Co. at the Tracey Mine in Neguanee, before he enlisted to serve the country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, serving as an Honor Guard. Clyde returned to the area where he worked for Cliffs in the engineering department before attending law enforcement school at Northern Michigan University. Following graduation Clyde worked as a Police Officer for the City of Ishpeming and then in security for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co.

Clyde was a devote Catholic and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, along with the Ishpeming VFW. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed playing basketball, football, baseball, and golf, along with officiating basketball and baseball.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 68 years – Dorothy Dodge of Ishpeming Twp.; 3 children – Robert Dodge of Negaunee, Kathy Ross of Lee’s Summit, MO and Nancy (Thomas King) Dodge-King of Wetmore; grandchildren – Tory Bourdage, Brandon Dodge, Nicole (Brian Barton) Ross-Barton, Nathan and Maxwell King; great-grandchildren – Alexis Dodge, Brandon Dodge, Brogan Dodge, Phillip Barton, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother – Roger Dodge, and son-in-law – Tony Ross and grandson – Michael Ross.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming. Pallbearers will be Robert Dodge, Thomas G. King, Brandon Robert Dodge, Francis Bourdage, Nathan King and Maxwell King. Interment will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Michael Ross Memorial Foundation at 10408 Stonehaus Dr., Lee’s Summit, MO 64086, where 100% of proceeds will go to the Bay Cliff Health Camp.
