Charlotte Elizabeth Mumpower

SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, MI – (Change of Venue) – Charlotte Elizabeth Mumpower, age 90, of Skandia Township, passed away Monday, June 13th, 2022, at Lakeview Assisted Living Facility in Gladstone, in the loving care of her family.

Born May 17th, 1932, in Marquette, a daughter of Norman and Winifred (Huff) Norr, Charlotte was raised in Marquette, and graduated from Graveraet High School in 1950. She married and started raising a family, cleaning houses on the side, while raising the kids. In 1973, she moved to Arkansas for six months, where she was employed at the first ever WalMart. Future moves were to Missouri and then back to the Marquette area. She later met Lynn Mumpower at the dance hall and the two eventually blended their families, when they were united in marriage in 1968. Charlotte was a devoted mother to the nine children she helped raise and was a hard worker on the farm where they lived raising cattle. She possessed an outgoing personality, made friends easily, and her life was filled with family and many friends. Charlotte loved to play cards, especially cribbage, and just about every get together with friends included a game or two. Life on the busy farm also included time for flower gardening and growing vegetables. Charlotte enjoyed both these endeavors and often gifted her flowers and produce to family and friends. She always found a little time for the enjoyable pursuit of horseback riding with her horse, King. She was a meticulous housekeeper, who kept a tidy home, and was an excellent baker and slightly less excellent cook, although she would disagree with her kids assessment. Crafty, artistic, and a talented seamstress, Charlotte made all her own and her children’s clothing, even her daughter’s wedding dresses. Charlotte loved social events, volunteering, and community work. She was an active church member her entire life, sang in the church choir, was active in the ladies aid, and enjoyed hosting Bible studies in her home. From 1978 until 1988, Charlotte served as the Skandia Township Clerk. She and Lynn enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Florida from 1991 until 2006 and she felt blessed to have a vacation home away from the snow.

Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Trevillion of Washington, Nanette (Warren) Bentley of North Carolina, Linda (Daniel) Labriola of Washington, Cindy Trevillion of Champion; sons, Kim (Carol) Trevillion of Skandia, Thomas (Debbie) Mumpower of California, James (Tosha) Mumpower of Tennessee, Brent (Kathleen) Mumpower of South Carolina; a son-in-law, Dalton Lilly of Fredricksburg, VA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lynn Mumpower in 2006; a daughter; Deborah Lilly; three sisters, Laverne Foster, Carol Yeadon Small, and Norma Rivord.
